Currently my laboratory is constituted by my self and a pre-doctoral fellow financed by the Institute.
My research interests are related to the cellular basis of epileptogenesis. More specifically I correlate the intracellular cell activity and the cortical field potential in the simpler cerebral cortex of the turtle. Using field potential recording, I have found transient high voltage events similar to the mammalian interictal-epileptical spike. The experiment are performed in vitro, in a whole hemisphere preparation and also in conventional slices (400 to 2000 ?m thick) .
The field potentials are performed with thin wall glass micropipettes filled with Ringer solution.
The intracellular recording are both sharp and whole cell recording mode.

At this moment, I am studding the effect of the electrical synapses and other neurotrasmitters such as norepinephrine, dopamine and 5-HT in cortical electrogenesis.
